In the studio this morning the children experimented with droppers and colored water to see how ice melts. We will extend this experiment later in the week with more variables. Then we gathered some snow from the playground, read the story of "Frosty the Snowman" and constructs some snow men of our own. While they built the snowmen the children had a discussion about what would happen to the snow inside the classroom and how the snowmen would look as they melted. We observed the melting process and found that the first thing that happens is the buttons fall off... Then as one student keenly put it, "the puddle gets bigger!"
