For the past two weeks we have been building a fort in the Cottonwood trees behind the Charter school. The kids worked very hard to contruct sturdy roofs and to thatch them with grass. I really enjoyed listening to the conversations that were inspired by this project. Many of the conversations focused on the basics of survival: hunting, fire, water and shelter. James and Lexi wanted me to add that the fort means a lot to them and they have worked very hard on it!

Here are some of our armature golfers. What a blast they had!! While we planned on only miniature golfing the kids were distracted by the movement of water, here are some pictures of them panning for goodies. Today we visited Miss Sierra at the visitor center for our Naturalist program and we learned about Beavers and how they survive in the cold water year round. Here is James the beaver!! As Miss Sierra explained how each part of the beaver helps them live in the wild she added a part of his outfit. Jayla shows me the beaver skin while holding her breath. Did you know beavers can hold their breaths for 15 minutes? I didn't!
What a wonderful group of hikers we have here at the preschool. We had a blast exploring Gold Creek Lake trail # 1150, we saw a chipmunk, grass hoppers, butterflies, lots of trees, flowers, berry bushes, and much more. Take a look at a few pictures we captured. After weeks of creating small marble tracks inside the school the kids decided to try to make one on a much larger scale. This time using gutters and tennis balls instead of wooden blocks and marbles. Here are a few of their combinations. They all agreed that it would be too difficult to reach the top to release the tennis ball on this track.
We had a fun time riding bikes at the Steamboat lake circle. This video is of Peter riding Daniels bike without training wheels! We are so excited, take a look at his accomplishment!!!! Check out this video from our final gymnastics class. We earned extra free time by following directions well! Last Wednesday we had an impromtu talent show at the Transit center. Miss Christa was able to capture some of the acts with her smart phone. Check it out! |
