About our School
The North Routt Preschool was built in its current location in Clark in 2006 for the North Routt Community. Adjacent to the North Routt Charter school, the Preschool is currently licensed to provide quality education to 20 preschoolers (ages 3-5 years) and 10 toddlers (ages 12 months to 3 years). In time we may add infant care to our programs - please reach out to us if this is of interest to you.
We see the North Routt Preschool as having both indoor and outdoor classrooms (explore the pictures below). With nature at the center of our curriculum, we strive to bring the outdoors into our indoor learning spaces. Both the toddler and preschool indoor classrooms have murals of animals and natural environments; artistic displays of branches, feathers and found objects; and offer open, light-filled spaces to explore changeable learning materials.
Our outdoors learning and play environments provide our students with space to explore, play and discover in all seasons. We take our students outside to learn and discover in all seasons. In the spirit of Routt County, most of our students are skilled bikers and skiers at three years of age! Our outdoor space for toddlers includes a sand area, a "sound path," a paved loop to practice early biking and mobility on, and naturalized areas for creative play. Our outdoor space for our preschoolers includes a sand area, a water play area, a greenhouse, a track for biking and skiing, and naturalized areas for creative play. With generous support from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation, we are working to install a climbing structure that will facilitate the development of our students' gross motor skills.
