By: Miss Christa I am sorry for the delay in my blogging our internet was not happy with all the cold weather we had yesterday, but it is a little happier today. Hello there and welcome back, I hope everyone had a wonderful week off!! We had the opportunity to visit family over the brake and enjoy a little warmer weather. However returning to snow was not much fun!!! Today the toddlers discovered the new chalk board Miss Michelle painted for us over the brake. The toddlers really like using chalk so I knew this would be a big hit! Once we ventured outside their attentions were on the garden and finding worms. The last time we hunted for worms there was still a lot of snow on the playground and we did not see many in our garden, however now that the weather is getting warmer we are finding quite a few decent sized worms. I can't wait to start planting!!! by: Miss Christa
I thought I would pass along a few pictures from yesterday afternoon. I love how much fun they have painting yes it gets a little messy but that's half the fun. By: Miss Christa Happy Wednesday to one and all!! Today our outdoor discussion was about worms and who eats them. As you will see in the video Nicolas thought for a moment that we eat them, I asked everyone if they eat worms I even got a few Yeses, and Jayla said that she eats them!! I asked them if bears eat worms they said NO and then I asked if Birds eat worms all around the playground everyone agreed that they do. Then some of the Preschoolers reminded me that our Salamander Mr. KiKi eats worms!! We will be digging for worms a lot this summer to feed our garden and also stock up our worm compost for Mr. KiKi. Speaking of garden we will be starting our seedlings after spring break if anyone has any request or recommendations of what we should grow this year please let us know. Hi there and Happy Easter Week! Of course this week we are talking about easter and doing easter related projects. Today we had our weekly PE session with Miss Kathy, boy does she have a lot of great ideas. The toddlers had a very fun time playing with large plastic easter eggs by throwing them, kicking them, and because it looks like a football, hiking them. Once our charter school mentors came over we split into small groups and rotated between three stations, easter egg hunting, egg racing, and bunny hide & go seek I have a feeling come sunday they will be able to find every egg that the easter bunny hides. Welcome to Friday today has been a wonderfully beautiful day and I am very glad we were able to spend a lot of time out doors this morning. With all of the snow melting so fast the little ones are enjoying shoveling and raking it out on to the grass or walkway and watching it melt. Jayla was so warm she took off her coat, shoes, and socks what freedom to have such a wonderful playground to feel so comfortable playing this way. Photos to come!! By: Miss Christa Happy Thursday to everyone, what wonderful weather we have been having here in North Routt this week. Today our area of interest outside was mainly with the xylophone and the rocks. Now that the snow has melted from around the xylophone it is easy to play a little tune. The most exciting part of the back yard for the little ones is the appearance of the rocks. We have a small section of the yard that has washed rock so it goes with out saying but rocks are the prefect sized object to pick up and throw so today we worked on dropping the stones instead of throwing them, it is almost as much fun for them they would pick them up and then slowly allow them to roll off of their hands. My little tune worked most of the time. Just a Reminder: Our Annual Easter egg hunt and pancake breakfast is THIS Saturday at the charter school. The pancake breakfast starts at 10:00 A.M. and the Easter Egg hunt will start at 11:00am, We hope you all can make it!!! By: Miss Christa Hello there and happy wednesday to all!!! This week we have been talking about Spring and what happens when the snow melts, animals return, and plants grow. Today we talked about chicks and where they come from, as the chicks began to hatch I noticed that each preschooler started to understand the process of life. The mother chicken lays the egg, the chick grows in the egg and with any luck the chick will hatch, dry off and be a very cute fluff ball. I also shared a dancing chicken I had brought in yesterday (the chicken does a little dance and during the dance lays three eggs), this action really sparked some of the preschoolers interests as well. After we ventured to see the chicks we played in the water table taking turns pouring water into the water wheels. Trying to keep three toddlers dry while playing in water is almost pointless!! :-) Hence the lack of clothing after, I helped them out of their wet shirts and they did the rest!!!! It is so natural and freeing for the little ones to be this way, they ran around being silly for some time after. By: Miss Christa We are proud to introduce the newest (temporary) members of our school, and so far we have over a dozen new chicks these little guys are so cute and fluffy when they are fully dry. Of course the day of the Chili Cook off the chicks decided to start hatching however the process takes a while so the preschoolers were surprised to see a hand full new chicks yesterday morning. We are hoping for a good turn out for the duck eggs that are still in the incubator we will keep you updated but we should start seeing some action next week. On another note everyone had a lot of fun with Miss Kathy during PE time today. Miss Kathy came armed with a lot of fun games for us to play involving sticks, domes, and fruit balls! We pretended the domes and sticks were candlesticks and we were Jack jumping over them! By: Miss Christa Today we all had a lot of energy, so right away we had a chance to tumble and climb on our foam obstacle blocks. There is a song that I sing when we forget how to use play structures and that is "Up the Stairs and Down the Slide, thats how we play!" this song helps reming them and also distract during tough times. |
