By: Miss Christa What are Toddlers attracted to the most??? WATER!!! Yep when water is flowing the little ones come running. By: Miss Christa This morning was a messy one and for that I am sorry!!! everyone helped me start the water for our peas and bean seeds that we planted yesterday however the connection of the hose was not a good one and it crated a lake to keep them distracted from splashing in the water I made a stream so they could watch the water flow down the little hill. By: Miss Christa Hey There All, Welcome to another fun filled week here at the North Routt Preschool Toddler Room!! This week is go week, I have been saying it for a while now but it has finally happened there are seeds in the ground on the toddler side of the playground. With help from two of our toddlers I was able to plant Peas, Green Beans, Spinach, and Radishes this morning. We will Continue to add more as time allows, however now the battle of distraction shall begin! We have been having so much fun hunting for worms in our garden that I am afraid that they will have a hard time refraining themselves from digging. This will be short lived and once our produce starts to grow I have a feeling they will loose interest in digging and enjoy watching our plants grow. We started a new project recently, it is an indoor garden first we finger painted the dirt onto a large piece of paper next we will glue it on to a piece of green paper and as time goes on we will be adding little flowers and plants. Im not sure where it may lead to but I can't wait to see the final project. I just love their curiosity in everything we do. By: Miss Christa
Happy Wednesday everyone, today was so warm outside, we played on the playground and then went for a walk to see how the charter schoolers were doing with their hole dogging tasks. The charter schoolers are planting trees today!! We were very curious to see the holes they were digging we counted over 10 holes in the front bed alone. Planning on taking another little walk later to see the trees once they are in the ground! By: Miss Christa Hi and happy Tuesday to everyone, Today was a very busy day!! Seedling viewing, outside play and garden prep, and PE with Miss Kathy!! This week is garden week here at the Preschool, Kerri Ann and Miss Michelle have added garden soil to our garden plots yesterday and are starting the process of squaring off the plots so we can plant the seeds. Last week the toddlers helped me plant miniature sunflower seeds in peat pods, today we checked on the seeds and it looks like we will have a good turn out. My plan for the seeds will be to plant them around the north and west fence line so we can keep an eye on their growth. The sunflowers will only grow around two feet tall so the little ones will have a great view. once the flowers have reached maturity we can dry the seeds and feed them to the birds or just eat them ourselves, ill probably use some of them in future projects as well. I will post some pictures on the blog of their reactions to seeing the tiny seedlings. The toddlers helped me get a few things done outside today and found exciting things to play with as well, take a look at a few fun pix. PE Fun Pix!! First we each played with a plastic snake, a creepy crawly insect, and an insect that has wings. Then we were the itsy bitsy spiders and went up and down a imaginary rain spout. Lastly we rolled balls around on he floor... these were special balls one side was bouncy ball material and the other side was squishy so when they rolled they would go all over the place and not in a straight line!! Hi All, I am sorry I have not had a chance to email or do a post for wednesday till today this week has just flown by, Im not sure if you have had a chance to see tuesday's post but I have had a blast watching every child explore and discover what has changed in our classroom's new layout. I wish I would have taken a few photos yesterday it was stripes day everyone was wearing stripes on their shirts well besides me I didn't get the memo! Today we spent a lot of time outside playing in the sand box, riding bikes, throwing balls, and even took a walk in the stroller. I have a wonderful video of two preschoolers helping the toddlers transition into nap time. I will try and upload it ASAP, technology is only my friend everyone in a while. By: Miss Christa Welcome back, I hope everyone's weekend was warm!?! Today started off with a big surprise, which lead to messy fun, and then we just hopped around! First things first some of you are getting little sneak peak of our new classroom layout, I noticed a few areas that were not being utilized to their full extent so with help from my mentor Sharon Butler, Program Manager for Family Development Centers Child Care and Newborn Networks, we came up with a wonderful new layout. One area hat changed is the location of our light table we choose to move it to the kitchen area where we can have more opportunities to create art on to of it. which lead us to our first activity, FINGER PAINTING!! this project proved to be messy but boy did they have a lot of fun squishing the paint in between their fingers and spreading it around the paper. PE with Miss Kathy was a lot of fun, at first we were little grass hoppers playing leapfrog and leap danced around the room to music, then we traded out grasshoppers in for frogs and pretended to hop from lily pad to lily pad. Check out all the fun pictures!! By: Miss Christa Happy Friday to everyone!!! This morning we played and sorted lids by colors. Cooper helped me by dumping them all out of the container. This seemed very frustrating for him because the whole was too small for his hand to fit into and the lids were too big to fall out easily. His solution was to shake it with all of his might. Well as you can see it worked well!! it was a lot of fun for him and then when it was time to clean it up he put almost every one of the lids back in the container by himself! By: Miss Christa Today the chalk board was an area of interest, after they colored for a while it was time to clean it off, so out came the spray bottles then the trio went to work. Cooper and Nicolas sprayed the water and Charlotte and I wiped it down. I really enjoy the fact that they enjoy cleaning so much even if it makes a bit of a mess first!! |
