Today everyone was having the Friday Jitters early in the day so we decided to get outside early. While outside some of our friends went on a bear hunt and read the book "We're Going On A Bear Hunt" By: By: Miss Christa Hi there and a very happy Thursday to you all!! Today was a wonderful day we had another blue day here at the school. Today we read two books about blueberries the first one was "Blueberries for Sal" By Robert McCloskey and the other one was called "Jamberry" By Bruce Degen. The reason why I choose to read both of these books was because we made Blueberry "Puffins." Ok a Puffin is a cross between a Pancake and a Muffin and we chose to bake them two ways one on a cookie sheet and the other in mini muffing tins, both ways turned out wonderfully delicious. I was very pleased at how the toddlers helped us measure, pour, and mix the batter with our preschool friends. I think the part of this activity that made me smile the most was seeing how each friend helped one another, as the bowl went around the table and while each child was stirring the next friend who was patiently waiting their turn held the bowl so it wouldn't scoot a lll over the table!!! That was wonderful Teamwork!! Because the children have been showing so much interest in food lately we have chosen to revolve our time around talking about a different food or two every week and then possibly create a snack that incorporates that food. We have been talking about harvesting our carrots from our garden next week, hoping to make something yummy with them, Carrot juice, Carrot cake, ooh maybe both!! By: Miss Christa Today we spent some time talking about blue things that we have in our classroom and playing Ring Around the Rosie. Once we headed outside we had a big surprise waiting for us, Mr Eric from the State Park was in our back yard talking to our Preschool friends about small, medium, and large animals that live in our area. He brought beaver, raccoon, skunk, fox, and even a bear pelt along with their skulls for us to explore. By: Miss Christa
Today we were talking about blue things and what types of food are the color blue, blueberries were everyones favorite!! During our art time we chose to paint blueberries on our paper. Yum By: Miss Christa
Cutting play dough is a different feeling then cutting any other substance. Cooper and I took turns cutting, slicing, and pressing play dough. By: Miss Christa
Outside time was filled with bubbles this morning. I'm not sure how long the bubbles lasted but there was a lot of giggles doing from outside! By: Miss Christa Attention has been on apples lately, some friends have had them in their lunches and we have been talking about them during group time, so today we started out painting with them then resorted to painting on them and then painting on their plates with paint brushes. Everyone loved the mess and gooey texture of the paint! |
