Hello all, I am sorry I have not posted anything this week technical difficulties!! However I do have a lot of fun pictures to share. After visiting the Boulder Journey School this last week I realized I needed to start thinking small about projects and curriculum for our youngsters. At the B.J.S. their environment was very simply laid out, their class room materials were somewhat limited and rotated in and out depending on the children's interest, and art was a focal point of each room. I feel like children are often handed materials that they do not now much about or have not had a chance to fully explore. For this reason I have chosen to simplified my curriculum for our toddlers. This week we have been talking about paper simply starting off with plain paper and exploring different ways to make markings / art on them. Monday we drew on paper with chalk, Cooper noticed how smooth it was to draw with and how easy it was to mix the colors on the paper with his hands. Tuesday we colored on paper with crayons they were not very interested in the crayons so for fun I added some tissue paper to see how they would manipulate it. Jayla made a bed for her baby out of tissue paper, then Jayla and Charlotte made headbands with the tissue paper. Everyone enjoyed how the paper looked on our light table!! Today (Wednesday) I taped a large piece of paper to one of our tables and let them go crazy with markers, I observed lots of circles being drawn, zigzags and dots. Tomorrow I hope to do some painting with them. Here are some fun filled pictures from the last few days. Enjoy
