Today Samantha and Gabriella (Scarlet's mother and au pair) came to read us stories. Then we worked together to mix the colors for a giant paint by number we traced using the projector. We will work on painting it this afternoon and tomorrow.

This morning we made some hot air balloons from paper plates and egg cartons. It is so fun to reuse household items like this for art! They turned out looking great! By Ms Melissa
The children enjoyed helping to put together these cute planes with hot glue. Then we painted them a color of choice. While working we talked about other things that travel in the air. Hot air balloons, gliders, jets, other planes, helicopters, rockets.. And probably more I can not remember. They had a looooong list. By Ms Melissa
Today we used vegetable shortening and bird seed to mold some outdoor feeders for birds that do not migrate. They will be frozen overnight and we will hang them out tomorrow... Photos of the finished product to follow... By Ms Melissa
Today we read "Blueberries for Sal" and "Old Bear" and talked about hibernation and how animals prepare to hibernate. Then we made a "bear cave" for our friend teddy while he ate and ate to get fat for hibernation. We were excited to have the help of our new assistant teacher Lexie today! By Ms Melissa
Today the preschoolers helped design some patterns with stringing beads. We took pictures and will make them into a matching material for our light table so everyone can practice making patterns. What excellent helpers! By Miss Melissa
Today we had our first yoga class with Alex. We are so lucky to have her planning to join us every Thursday possible :) The children did sun salutations and fun animal poses. Their homework for next week is to think of some new animal poses to try. By Ms Melissa
Today some of the children started working on painted portraits. They studied their faces and clothing, prepared a pallet of colors and painted portraits of themselves. All the children will make one over the next few days. We also made some Playdough with Kerri Anne and used it to make some letter "Aa"s and other fun and creative things. We love our playdough around here!! By Ms Melissa
Today we started doing a letter of the week. Just a fun thing to add interet to our language studies in the new year. We will look at a different letter each week and the children are invited to bring in a small object on Thursday that begins with the letter of the week. Thanks in advance for helping make this successful. |
