Hello everyone and happy Thursday! I hope today is treating you well. Today at preschool is a bitter sweet kind of day. One of our preschoolers, Delia Reynolds, is graduating and starting kindergarten next year!!! She will be greatly missed, but I know that she will enjoy her new adventure at the charter school. Since I don't know how to make a graduation cap, Georgia and I decided to help Delia make a graduation crown; complete with lots of glitter. I think it turned out well :) We also ventured over to the basketball court today for some serious bike riding. These kids really know how to scare me!! I'm always amazed to see how well they can handle their bikes. And what would a day at preschool be if we didn't get covered in mud? It's always their favorite activity! The preschoolers also learned how to play duck, duck, goose this afternoon! It's an excellent summer game to play outside and they really enjoyed it! Have a great weekend NRP parents and friends! See everyone next week!

By Miss Michelle Happy Wednesday everyone!! I hope you have a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather we are having today; I know the preschoolers are! But before we went outside today, the kids put on a really awesome musical concert! It all started when I asked if any of the preschoolers went to the concert over at the charter school last week. Since a few of them had, we decided to put on our own musical show. I've got to say, I hope these guys stick with it because they really seem to love playing music. Words can only go so far, so I took a video of their performance today and I hope you have time to check it out below. It's definitely entertaining! Also I wanted to apologize if your child goes home looking like the lock ness monster. We had a lot of fun playing in the mud today :) By Miss Michelle
Hello everyone!!! I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend. From some of the stories I am hearing, it sounds like the preschoolers had a great time. We are having a really beautiful day outside, so the kids and I wanted to spend as much time out there as possible. It looks like our garden is doing well because some radishes are starting to grow! Hopefully we will be knee deep in vegetables from our garden this year. The kids also decided to make a small mud hole in our sand box today! They were very pleased with how well it turned out and how much fun it was to jump in it :) We also learned that if we want to have it full of water, we can't put anymore sand in it otherwise the water disappears. It's so much fun to get dirty and play in the mud; it's a sign that summer is here! We'll surely be having more summer fun these next few months and I can't wait for our field trips! By Miss Michelle Thursday is here!!! I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful day :) I know I say we were busy at preschool almost every day, but today that was especially true. First we started the day off with a little racing. If you look at our pictures, you will see the kids trying to blow a small orange/white ball along a track to the finish line. This was a little tricky at first, but we learned that if we keep our straw farther away from the ball, they go further. After racing with the straws and balls for a while, I asked the preschoolers if they had any ideas on how to race things. They suggested cars and flicking the straws with their fingers. Such a fun game!! Today we also celebrated one of our volunteers, Miss Suzy's birthday!!!!! We made her a special birthday crown and card that I think she really enjoyed. The preschoolers and I definitely received great birthday gifts from Miss Suzy even though it wasn't our birthdays!! She gave each child their own kite and bubbles to take home! She also donated a really fun bean bag toss game that the kids love to play and two bubble guns that shoot real bubbles!! And what would a birthday be without cake? She brought along cupcakes that we got to decorate with frosting and sprinkles. We are so very lucky to have Miss Suzy at our preschool :) She surely has spoiled us today and we are very grateful for her generosity. By Miss Michelle Happy Wednesday everybody and good afternoon! The preschoolers and I completed another item on our summer bucket lists today! We have our vegetable garden planted!!! I am very excited to get these yummy vegetables growing and on our lunch table. Some of the things we have planted so far are peas, radishes, carrots, and spinach. We also have some plants inside like cucumbers, tomatoes and broccoli, but we are waiting until they grow a little more before we transplant them to our garden. The preschoolers were very helpful today while planting the seeds, even though their method of planting is a little different than mine :) We may have a few random vegetables growing in odd areas of our playground, but that will keep us on our toes! I hope you are enjoying your Wednesday and this beautiful weather!! Till tomorrow :) By Miss Michelle
Good afternoon everyone!! Another great day here at preschool because we had our last recess with Miss Kathy for the school year. However, we will be seeing Miss Kathy at her home a few times this summer, we will miss seeing her every Tuesday! Miss Kathy told us about all the different kinds of bugs today! We read a few books and sang and danced along with bugs she had brought for us to learn with. After our great bug adventures, we traveled outside to play lacrosse and go on a snake hunt! Thankfully the snakes we found weren't real because I would have screamed very very loudly :) Miss Kathy told me she was happy to see how fast the preschoolers were picking up the basic skills needed to play lacrosse. It was even hard for me to throw the ball and catch it using the lacrosse stick, but after some time everyone was doing really well. We also got our garden ready to plant today. The preschoolers and I sectioned off one by one squares using tacks and purple string. Next we are deciding what we want to plant and how many of them need to go into each section. Hopefully we will be up to our ears in vegetables very soon :) Have a great Tuesday and we will see you tomorrow! By Miss Michelle
Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed that beautiful weekend we just had!! Today at preschool, we decided to check off a few items on our summer bucket lists. If you remember, last week I helped the preschoolers make a bucket list of the things they wanted to do this summer. One of those things was to go camping. So, today we built a tepee/tent in our playground. We had a lot of fun playing in it even though we couldn't do all the things we do while camping. Tomorrow we are planning on planting some vegetables and fruits in our garden. It's sure to be a busy day!! Enjoy this beautiful day and sunshine. See you again tomorrow :) By Miss Michelle
Happy Thursday everyone!! Today at preschool, we made tin can phones!!! I finally remembered to bring the cans I saved from home. The kids really enjoyed this experiment. After we made them, we tried yelling and whispering into the cans and seeing which way we could hear best. Not too surprising enough, yelling was the winner. Such a fun way for the preschoolers to learn! However, they think they were able to hear each other because those cans were magic :) We also had a visit from Miss Suzy today!! The kids and I really love her upbeat personality. She always makes our activities more enjoyable. We ventured outside to do some exploring in the wooded areas. We found a really great tree to climb that helped work on everyone's coordination. I hope everyone has a great weekend and we'll see you again on Monday! By Miss Michelle
Hello everyone! I wanted to start off thanking everyone that participated in the program at the charter school last night! The kids and I had a lot of fun and I hope it was very educational for the parents. Today, the preschoolers and I traveled over to the charter school for another day of buddy reading! I love seeing the interactions between preschoolers and third and fourth graders! We also took advantage of the nice weather outside today by being outdoors as much as possible. I had a plan to make tin can phones and letting the kids learn from them, but of course I forgot my two cans at home (for the second day in a row). Total failure on my part! Luckily, the preschoolers always find an activity that will allow them to learn something. For example, we played in the kitchen area today and started talking about healthy foods verses non healthy foods. I learned that the North Routt preschoolers believe pizza is a very healthy food for you :) I truly wish they were right!! Have a wonderful Wednesday! By Miss Michelle
Happy Tuesday everyone!!! Another great day here at preschool. We started off today by going on a safari. One of the preschoolers brought in a book about going on safari with his friends, so we decided to re-enact it! It was so much fun and we even got to ride in "hot air balloon" and see lots of animals like elephants and cheetahs! Miss Kathy also came to visit us again today. She discussed frogs and grasshoppers with us and since we learned about frogs a few weeks ago, the kids got to tell her a few things that we learned about them! As always, we had so much fun with Miss Kathy and all the things she brings for us to learn with. When I asked the preschoolers what their favorite activity with Miss Kathy was, they replied "hopping over each other like frogs." Remember! Tonight at the charter school, First Impressions is hosting a panel of various professionals to answer any questions parents may have about their children. Pizza and child care will be provided. It starts at 6 p.m. |
