This week, we celebrated the rain! We played in it, read about it, painted with it, talked about it, and learned so much about it! Today, we learned about rainbows! The class made rainbow sun catchers and rainbow cookies! The class

The rain is still here! We have been exploring a lot of things since the rain has been here, including how rain works! We practiced filling up "clouds" (cotton balls) and pitchers with holes in them to see how to "make rain happen" in the water table! it was a lot of fun. We have also been reading some books about rain and today, we are making rain paintings (photos to come when they are finished!). Below are some photos of the shapes we have been practicing and the class working with the shapes in the classroom.
Due to some rain, we have been inside most of the day. And while it sounds awful, we have had a WONDERFUL time! We have managed to be very creative and productive in the classroom this week! We worked with the children this morning to make some small images of themselves to carry around throughout the day and define the center they are in. Our hopes are that this will help focus the children throughout the day while also adding a fun element of control, math skills (because sometimes only two or three people can fit in a center and this way each child can be responsible for counting the people there and seeing if he or she fits in to the space), we also hope it will be a fun way to promote some social skills and problem solving.
We have also been working with shapes and letters and each child has started to latch on to a fun way to learn them. Painting on the light table, drawing with chalk, picking the letters of a word out of a pile and more. This has been really fun! Below are some photos of everything we've done this week! Its been a busy week here at NRP! We have been playing inside quite a bit due to the rain, but we DID manage to get some of the garden planted! the children have been getting into practicing their writing on the chalk board, so we have been busy coming up with new ways to use it! We also check in on our Decorah Eagles and the babies are HUGE! The kids had a lot of questions and were excited to see the growth.
I will leave you with a few pictures. -Miss Johannah We have been enjoying a mix of spring time sun and spring time rain this week! The rain is much needed and we don't mind being stuck inside too too much, as long as we get to dance while we are in! We have been working this week on some special presents for Mom as well. We read "Are You My Mother" and talked about the special day coming up! We don't have any pictures of our crafts to post because it would ruin the surprise.
This morning, Miss Alex came and we practiced springtime yoga! We learned how to be mice, cats dogs, trees and frogs! The children really love yoga and its a good way to practice listening and using our bodies calmly while doing big movements. After yoga, we made bird feeders! They really enjoyed rolling and burying their feeders in the birdseeds to cover them. We hung them out on the playground, so be sure to check them out next time you're here! Thanks! -Miss Johannah First of all, THANKYOU! to everyone who helped with, volunteered at, and attended to chili cook-off! We raised $1600 for the preschool and it seems like everyone had a blast on Sunday! Second, sorry for the delay in posting, it seems the week after spring break was a little busier than most! I hope everyone had a wonderful spring break! We did! And, we had a magnificent first week back to school. The most exciting part of the week was when we got to see our ducklings finally hatch! This week, the class has been really into puppets and they have been putting on a lot of puppet shows both inside and out! We set up the stage in the community room and they are excited to come up with their own stories. We have also been working on letters and numbers quite bit and painting on the light table is a fun way to practice! Last, but not least, TODAY, we celebrate Jade's THIRD birthday! She is excited to be in the preschool room and she even made us cupcakes to have after lunch! She made sure to ask if everyone was enjoying them halfway through, and of course we were!
