The last couple of weeks we have been diving into the relevant subject of winter animals and their respective habitats, habits, and characteristics. One of the subjects that has been of interest to the kids is that of "hibernation". We have built caves outside where we "hibernate" and we have discussed which animals hibernate and for what reasons. The latest question involved a debate about squirrels hibernating and we posed a poll question: Do Squirrels Hibernate? Check out our picture bellow with the answers for the poll. Some of the Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines targeted include:

• Number Concept and Quantities: The understanding that numbers represent quantities and have ordinal properties (number words represent a rank order, particular size, or position in a list.)
• Measurement and Comparison: The understanding of attributes and relative properties of objects as related to size, capacity, and area. 
• Conceptual Knowledge of the Natural and Physical World: The acquisition of concepts and facts related to the natural and physical world and the understanding of naturally-occurring relationships.
