Hello NRP parents and friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Today at school, we drove up to the Poverty Bar trail in Hahn's Peak. It was a lot of fun!! We found tons of flowers, lady bugs, and even baby pine cones. They also learned about early pioneers finding gold which inspired us to look for gold as well. Unfortunately, we weren't as lucky as the pioneers, but we still had a great time looking! After hiking the trail, we went back for a picnic and explored the old school house and museum! This was definitely my favorite part!! The kiddos really loved playing school while at the school house and loved playing in the jail. So much history in those two buildings and we are very lucky to have it so close to us! Everyone agreed they wanted more time to play at the jail house, so we are planning another trip soon! Tomorrow we are attending another strings concert down in Steamboat! It should be another great day!

Happy Thursday everybody!! Today at school, Nicole and I took the kiddos to Steamboat Lake for another nature lesson from Mr. Eric. Today he taught us about plants and trees! I think the kids' favorite thing was the game he taught us to play. It was a relay race that gave everyone the chance to run a penny to a flower on the other end of the yard! So much fun to watch them run, run, run!! Then Mr. Eric told us the many different parts of a tree and what they purpose is. He had each child be a different part of the tree and gave each child a line to say! It was a great time! Thanks for another great day Mr. Eric; we can't wait till next time!!! Enjoy the rest of your afternoon everyone! We have some relaxing to do here at school after such an exciting morning! By Miss Michelle
Happy Wednesday everyone! Another beautiful day we are having! At school today, our plans changed a bit, but we rolled with it. Instead of driving to the Hahn's Peak cemetery, we took the kids exploring the backwoods by the Charter School. They loved it! We hunted for grasshoppers and pretty flowers. They are using those flowers to make various art projects this afternoon! The flower press is allowing us to use them for lots of different things and I can't wait for them to show you what they came up with :) Tomorrow we are planning on driving to the Steamboat Lake for another nature lesson with Ranger Eric! Please be sure your child has a water bottle, cold lunch, tennis shoes, and sunscreen. Also! Please remember to leave your child's car seat here! Thanks! Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!! By Miss Michelle Good afternoon everyone! I hope you are enjoying this beautiful day as much as we are at school! Today the kids, Miss Kerri Ann and I ventured to the big city of Steamboat to attend our first Strings concert of the summer! It was amazing!!!! We saw a wonderful band called the Not Its and everyone really enjoyed their music and dancing! As you can see from the pictures, we didn't spend a lot of time in our seats because we were too busy rockin' out! The Not It band even taught us a really great dance involving the rock, paper, scissors game! Ask your child tonight if they remember it :) After the concert, we went to a park close by for a picnic and play time! In short, today was defiantly one of the best so far this summer! The kiddos and I can't wait to attend another concert next Tuesday!!! By: Miss Christa What a morning we had and what great explorers we have here at the school. today we went over to the Charter School back yard to build forts and see what we could find. along the way we found tall tall grass, lots of beautiful flowers, many sticks (some too big to carry), and even caterpillars!! Oh and baby grasshoppers too!!! We learned so much from mother nature today, for example we were watching a large caterpillar for a while then it stopped moving, we talked and thought that it stopped moving because it was afraid that we were predators wanting to eat it and if it didn't move it may not be so appealing to eat!! We also learned that grasshoppers are sneaky insects and are hard to catch, but with perseverance they were able to catch a few. Kerri Ann and Myself also took a look at the some of the local bushes to check for berries, we have a few ideas for food projects this fall that will include these yummy berries I can't wait till they are ready to eat!! Happy Thursday everyone!! I hope you are all enjoying this beautiful day as much as we are here at preschool! Today we traveled to Miss Kathy's amazingly beautiful house so she could show us around! The kids were really excited about seeing Miss Kathy and her home. First off, everyone was really interested in seeing inside of Miss Kathy's house and she was gracious enough to let us in for a peak! There were lots of different trails for us to walk on, but everybody said their favorite part was playing by the river on the beach! Thank you so much Miss Kathy for everything and we can't wait to come see you again soon! By Miss Michelle
Today at school, Miss Nicole, the kids and I drove up to Pearl Lake to check out their trails! Even though, it got a little cold, we still had a great time! We even saw a mama duck and her babies swimming around the lake. When I asked the kids what their favorite part of the hike was, the said "throwing rocks in the lake and standing on the dock." There was one incident that will stick in my mind for awhile. While playing by the lake, one of the children's hats blew off and landed out of reach in the lake. Suddenly everyone became very nervous that we wouldn't be able to get the hat back. From out of the woods came two children holding nets that came and saved our hat! They were our heroes for the day!!! Everybody is very excited to head to Miss Kathy's tomorrow!! We have missed her around here :) By Miss Michelle
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today at school we traveled to Steamboat Lake to hike one of their trails. We had so much fun! First off, I wanted to thank our new aide, Nicole for all of her help today! She makes an excellent addition to our team. On our hike, we happened to see lots of interesting things! First, we caught a beautiful butterfly that hiked most of the way with us :) Next we saw three deer eating grass by the lake! It was very exciting because they were pretty close to us! The kids and I also saw lots of squirrels and even a few imaginary bears :) I can't wait for our hike at Pearl Lake tomorrow!! By: Miss Christa Busy Day here at the school, first off we spent some fun times in the toddler room with all the kids, building and wrecking. The preschoolers and summer campers and Cooper went to the Clark Store to get ice-cream. Before we were able to go to the store we had to fix Miss Christa Jogger stroller because the tires were flat, Cooper was a big help!! Here are some wonderful pictures of our play!! By Miss Michelle
Today at the NRP we had a water day!!! This was not only the first water day of the summer, but also my first water day! I wasn't sure what to expect, but everyone had a great time! We had a variety of different sprinklers along with our water slide. The kids really wanted to get started at about 9:30 this morning, but I held them off until about 11 :) We are hoping that each child at school this summer can bring a swimsuit to keep here so we can have a few impromptu water days! The kids really enjoyed it! Also, I wanted to remind everyone that next week we will be going on all the activities we have planned. Please check the calendar above the sign in sheet when you drop you child off or pick them up. Thank you and have a great weekend! |
