By: Miss Michelle Hello all!! I apologize for not posting these last few days... we've had some trouble with our internet. As always, we've been extremely busy. Sticking with our "Animals in Winter" theme, we made snow bunnies to live inside of our sugar cube igloos on Wednesday. The kids really enjoyed this activity. On Thursday we had a special new volunteer come visit us. Her name is Miss Suzy and she was nice enough to come read to us! The kids loved showing her how they made igloos and snow bunnies. We can't wait to see her next week! If you look at all the pictures below, you'll see that Friday was full of crazy fun! It was Miss Christa's birthday so the kids decided to throw her a birthday party! We made a cake and threw her a party, complete with decorations and a dance party! Please look at the pictures. They really are worth a thousand words! Have a great weekend everyone!

By: Miss Michelle We were very busy at school today! First off, we read a book called "The Three Snow Bears". It was about a family of bears that lived in an igloo. I thought it would be fun to have the kids make their own igloos out of sugar cubes. They had so much fun doing this and it was great seeing what they came up with! Next, we had another visit from Miss Kathy! Things are always interesting and upbeat when she's here! She read stories to us about snowflakes and taught us the BINGO song! Lastly, we went outside for some outdoor fun! Skiing was different today because Miss Kathy brought hoops for us to ski through!! The kids really enjoyed this activity! By: Miss Michelle Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had an amazing weekend! The preschoolers and I talked about animals that we see during the winter months. We started off by reading a book called "Old Bear" that was about a bear hibernating during winter. The kids were very interested in bears, so I asked them to tell me all they knew about these fury creatures. Daniel told me that bears like to eat blueberries and Delia said bears live in caves. Next we sang a song called "Are you sleeping, little bear?" We got up and marched around, but later decided to pretend to be bears! We even made a bear cave using sheets and chairs. I love the imagination these guys have! By: Miss Michelle I apologize for not having this out last Friday, but we were too busy having fun!! It was a different kind of day for me at preschool because I got to hang out with older children from the Charter School. As you can see from the pictures, we were very active! My favorite part of the day was the kids teaching me how to cross country ski. Being from Iowa, I never really did any kind of skiing, but these guys are AMAZING skiers. They really enjoyed helping me get the hang of it and I really appreciated the extra help. At the end of the day, we decided to put paper on the floor and run on it with paint on our feet! By: Miss Michelle Today at preschool we had a very special learning experience. Delia and her family were nice enough to donate a tree that we could plant and keep here at school. Before getting started, we decided to read a book that showed us how trees grow and what they need to stay alive. It was a lot of fun reading and learning, but their favorite part of this project was getting dirty! After putting the tree in a pot, we went outside to discuss where we should transport the tree once it's big and strong enough to be moved outdoors. By: Miss Michelle Who loves to finger paint? The preschoolers do! Today we worked on a special project that allowed the preschoolers to choose a color of paint and work together to make a "thank you" card. They really enjoyed this activity, so after we finished making the thank you card, they wanted to make special pictures for the special people in their lives. We also made a new poster for our classroom. I hope the kids get a chance to show you themselves, but if not, here's a picture of it! By: Miss Michelle I was so excited to finally get to meet and work with Miss Kathie today!! She's an amazing woman and I can see why the preschoolers love her so much. We did so many fun things with her today. First we danced around to silly songs and then read a book about a boy that lost his mitten. Miss Kathie thought it would be fun to have the kids pretend to be the animals in that book and climb inside the mitten. Instead of climbing inside a mitten, we put sheets over the chairs then crawled into that! The children really enjoyed this activity. Lastly, we went outside to do some cross country skiing with a couple of great helpers from the Charter School. I've come to realize how lucky we are to have Miss Kathie at our school. Everyone is excited to see her again next week! By: Miss Michelle Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Today we were lucky enough to have 4 doctors at school. Dr. Daniel, Dr. Dehlia, Dr. Peter and Dr. Joey were all present to help the sick and the hurt. Since the kids were so interested in being doctors, I decided to ask them, "What do doctors do?" Everyone answered that they make us feel better when we're sick or hurt. I also asked, "Do you like going to the doctor?" and "When you grow up, would you want to be a doctor?" Everyone seemed to like going to the doctor and Daniel said he'd love to grow up and be a doctor that way he could give people shots! By: Miss Michelle Today at school, the kids decided to make get well cards for their friends Emma and Daniel. Sadly, Daniel and Emma went home sick today and the rest of us really missed them. So when I asked Georgia, Jada, Joey and Grayson what we could do for them, Georgia said "Make a card!" They worked really hard on them and can't wait to deliver them. After making cards, Joey and Grayson went into the library to read some books. It was really fun seeing Grayson and Joey point to the pages of the book and make up their own stories. Georgia was nice enough to put her new berets in the Share Box to share with Jada! After we put some in Jada's hair, Grayson decided he wanted to put one in his hair too! It's so great seeing how well the Share Box is helping share with our friends. By: Miss Michelle
Today the preschoolers and I decided to go on a treasure hunt! A treasure map mysteriously appeared on our table and we thought we would see if we could find the treasure. First, the preschoolers thought we'd need some telescopes to help us see far, far away. Then I asked them what else we would need and Daniel replied, "a sword!" What fun would a treasure hunt be without a sword? We all worked together to find some really neat stickers!! Pretending to be pirates and going on treasure hunts was so much fun, the preschoolers thought we should go outside to have one. It was fun for everyone! Another great day here at North Routt Preschool. |
