This week has been pretty great so far! The Preschool classroom has been a productive place!
A few of the kids still had their "name-cards" to finish and we were able to laminate them all so that we could practice writing our names with dry-erase markers. We talked a little bit about drawing from life and some of the kids got into drawing pictures of their toys. We also started some easter-themed art projects! Along with coloring pages and some word searches, we decorated our Easter grass pots for the pancake breakfast this weekend! The kids had fun using their hands to color the pots. This morning, we made some sensory bags. The kids filled them with some letters, shapes and colorful gels and we had fun exploring those things on the light table. Everyone loved them! We also had our second to last buddy reading at the NRCCS. We have really enjoyed going across the way to meet with our buddies and have a few projects lined up to show our thanks for their time. It has been especially fun to see the Preschoolers come back to NRP and show interest in reading to the toddlers. Here are some photos of our fun times this week! -Miss Johannah

We spent the morning building a fishing boat out of some found materials and then we went fishing! We also baked some Irish Brown Bread, in honor of St. Patrick's day this week! Check out some photos below:
: This week has been pretty busy at NRPS!
We got out the smaller Legos and many of the children helped to sort them into their different color piles. There was quite a lot of interactive play during center time in the community room, especially in the kitchen/doctor area! On Thursday morning, we had a visitor from the library who read some awesome books to us! Another fun thing that we got out this morning was the wind tunnel! The kids LOVE to send up scarves, paper creations and other fun things to see if they will fly! Jahmal brought in feathers this morning, so we spent quite a while experimenting with those in the wind tunnel. Some of the children even practiced dipping the feathers in ink and writing with them. Hello! We are very excited in Preschool that spring is finally here (for good, we hope!). This week, the kids have been busy planting easter grass for our breakfast next weekend. We have started some journals and are very excited to share some photos with you once the grass starts to come up! They have also been 'planting' some flowers in pots in the sensory table, which has turned out to be the favorite indoor activity of the week! This morning, we were able to take our bikes out into the parking lot and ride around for almost an hour before lunch! Everyone came in happy, hungry and a little exhausted. They are unbelievably excited to be out on bikes these days and it is really impressive to see how much each child has improved in their skills both on striders and pedal bikes!
Since it is St. Patrick's Day, a few of the children decided to work on painting a pot of gold! We gave them a fun example to look at and they practiced their observational skills by referencing our drawing for their own work. I think they did a wonderful job! Finally, I wanted to let you all know that I introduced my special "Mystery Bag" today, and your child will be brining it home soon! The idea is to find a special item from home and bring it to school in the bag! With a parent's help, each child should come up with three clues (which can be written and placed in the bag) so that we can guess what it is! We are hoping to do this Tuesday and Wednesday nights, so that every child will get a turn. Thanks again for sharing your wonderful children with us! -Miss Johannah I hope everyone is enjoying the wonderful springish weather we are having! We had a blast today soaking up the lovely weather outside on our bikes! This is the first time this spring we have been able to get them out and the kids were very excited to ride them around! We also got to spend some time in the kitchen making a special treat! It was really awesome to have such great helping hands to bake my favorite recipe: Banana Bread! We decided to save the muffins for and after lunch snack, which we really enjoyed! I hope you all have a great weekend!
