By Miss Michelle Keeping your body healthy is very important. This is something I tell the preschoolers almost every day. We keep our bodies healthy by choosing to eat healthy foods and by exercising. In our classroom, we use to have a poster that had different yoga poses on it. Sadly, that poster ripped and we had to throw it away. Miss Christa and I thought making another poster of the preschoolers doing yoga poses would be a great project for us to do! So, that's what we did today and everyone really enjoyed themselves! We were also lucky enough to get a visit from one of our volunteers, Miss Suzy! The kids really enjoyed playing with her outside and eating lunch together. She was nice enough to bring us a gift from her vacation in Mexico! Thanks Miss Suzy!

By Miss Michelle Did you know that today is national tell a fairy tale day? In order to celebrate at preschool, I thought it would be a great idea to read a few fairy tales to the preschoolers and let them make their own stories! I was actually surprised by how interested in this activity all the kids were (even the boys)! After I read two books to the children, I asked them what they thought fairy tales needed? What kind of people, animals and houses were in these stories? If you look at the picture of our board where I wrote all their answers; you'll see we have a few interesting things. Once the preschoolers finished writing their own stories, they got to describe their pictures and "read" their stories to the class. It was surely a magical day here at school!! By Miss Michelle Today at preschool, we had another amazing visit from Miss Kathy! The kids and I are always so excited to see her! She read us a story today about dancing with noodles and different parts of our bodies. Of course she really great noodles for each of us to have and dance around with. Next Miss Kathy took us outside to go skiing on a hill near the school. It was difficult for some of the younger preschoolers, but with the help of the charter school kids, we all had a lot of fun!! We can't wait to see Miss Kathy again next week!! By Miss Michelle Hello everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! The last few days have been busy for Miss Christa, Kerri Ann and I. We were lucky enough to travel to the Boulder Journey School and learn so many new things! We spent a lot of time in their classrooms observing the different teaching strategies. I took a lot of great ideas home with me to implement in our preschool classroom. One thing we've been working on for a few weeks is our "alone space". I wanted to revisit this topic today to get a better idea of what the children wanted to have in their alone space. One of things I really noticed at the Boulder Journey School was that they use technology a lot through out their classroom. So I wanted to use the computer to show them pictures of actual alone spaces. We compared different things and decided they wanted a tree house themed alone spot. They also started a list of things that they wanted to have in their space. It surprised me how very specific they were. I'm so excited to get this space built!! Hello everybody! I hope you had a great weekend! We've been very busy here at preschool already this week. The Charter School kids have joined us this week and we have had a wonderful time with them. On Monday, they decided to make their own life size "I Spy" game. It was a lot of fun to watch them create this and then play with it. Today we had another visit from Miss Kathy and as usual, we did lots and lots of crazy fun things! Her book today was called "Follow the Leader" and later we got to act out all of the things from the book. It was great fun! We danced and played with a variety of really neat things. Check out all the great pictures!! By: Miss Michelle
Today at preschool, we did a lot of fun things! I think everyone's favorite activity was going outside early and sliding down the huge hill in our parking lot. Since I've never been around this much snow, I get really nervous watching how fearless these kids are! It's like I get to relive my childhood again with them! We finished up our valentine cards for our family and friends too. I'm so happy the preschoolers liked the Valentine Station we set up for them to complete their cards. I have had a great time celebrating all week with the preschoolers and I hope everyone has a great Valentine's Day!! By: Miss Michelle We started off today like any other day; by hanging out in the Share Box! In preparation for Valentine's Day, the preschoolers, toddlers, Miss Christa and I all made cupcakes today! I wasn't too surprised to see how excited everyone was to help make them. The school has a lot of fun things that the allow the kids to all help with baking! We also got to make different colors of frosting and while the children were helping to stir them, it was amazing how much frosting "accidentally" got on their fingers. :) It was a great way to kick off our Valentine's Day party! Decorating and eating the cupcakes were even better than making them!! By: Miss Michelle Hello everyone! Sorry about not posting on Monday, I was have some difficulties with the website. However, we're up and running again! It's Valentine's week!!! The preschoolers are very excited about a Valentine card table I set up in the classroom. Here the kids can write or draw Valentines for their friends and family! On Tuesday, we had another great visit from Miss Kathy! I'm always so happy to see her and so are the preschoolers. She had lots of really fun Valentine things for the kids to do today! Be sure to check out all the pictures below of everything we've done so far this week!! Just a reminder, we're having Valentine's parties this Wednesday and Thursday for the preschoolers and the toddlers. If your child would like to bring cards for everyone, let us know. We have a list of everyone here at school. By: Miss Michelle Sticking with our "Building" theme for this week, I talked to the preschoolers today about alone spaces. We've briefly talked about this in the past, but I wanted to revisit the topic again today. I got out the pictures of the kids' alone spaces from weeks ago and we added new things to them. I asked the preschools what are your favorite things in your alone spaces, what is the best part about being alone, and when do we like to be alone? I'm always amazed by their imaginations! Kerri Ann and I have decided to build an alone space just for the preschoolers somewhere within our classroom. So, we also discussed places that would work best for being alone. I'm really excited to get this space built, but even more excited to see these kids working together to build it! By: Miss Michelle Happy hump day everyone! In preschool today, we looked at a book that showed pictures of houses in Africa. First we located Africa on a globe because I wanted to show them how far away it was from us. After reading the story and looking at all the pictures in the book, I thought it would be fun for the preschoolers to make their own houses. I offered them paint, paper and popsicle sticks to build with, but when that got boring, we used larger equipment. Check out our pictures. We had another great day here at school! |
